Future World at The Art Science Museum, Marina Bay
A sensory and tech bonanza. This place is fun for all ages, including grumbling mums who are only focused on the nearest dumpling. Future World uses a clever mix of graphics, light and digital technology to create an interactive world that will leave you wondering ‘how the f#*k did they do that?’. You can leave your light mark with your bum on the slide, create animals by pressing symbols on a wall and display your artwork in a lifelike digital aquarium. Tickets are around SG $44 for a family of 4.

Jacob Ballas Children’s Garden at the Botanical Gardens
If your kids are a bit nature-starved like many in this day, the Jacob Ballas Gardens will remind all of you why protecting our planet is so important. There’s more greenery here than Shrek’s swamp and it just makes the lungs feel fresh. There’s cute turtles poking out of ponds (the real turtle kind), a fun maze to get lost in and some pretty wicked slides in a beautiful tree house. Best of all, it’s free!

Gardens by the Bay
If your kids can last the time it takes for the sun to go down and the night garden lights to come on before going into complete meltdown territory, this one’s for you. The Gardens by the Bay is a serene masterpiece of green space near Marina Bay Sands. These award-winning gardens boast an array of beautiful horticultural sights, restaurants, activities and events. All smack bang in the middle of the city!

Universal Studios, Sentosa Island
We aren’t massive theme park fans but let’s be honest, the kids go nuts for them. Universal Studios is good for a broad age range. Scary cartoon characters for the little ones, rollercoasters for the brave hearted, junkfood for the arteries and memories to last a lifetime (or around one month if they are under four years of age). One day ticket for non-resident adults SG$76, Kids 4-12 S$56.

Legoland
This one requires a bit of planning and a bit more time. An organized bus tour or driver might be the best option. It’s technically in Malaysia but a one-hour car ride from Singapore. It’s every lego-lovers dream and you can’t help but appreciate the craftmanship involved in some of the structures. Legoland is around SG$78 for adults and SG$62 for kids but you can get them cheaper online. Don’t forget to organize transport and bring your passport from Singapore.
